Letter from the President to all Markdale Minor Hockey players:

Markdale Minor Hockey held its annual general meeting Monday May 12th. Four of the five current executive, five parents and two spectators were in attendance. Elections for the 2008-2009 season were conducted. Two of the current executive did not stand for re-election and only one parent expressed interest in joining the new executive. As a result I was elected president for the new season with an executive of three other members.

Following the elections, a motion was tabled stating "Markdale Minor Hockey will hold a registration for the 2008-2009 hockey season". This motion was defeated. Therefore, Markdale Minor Hockey will not be registering teams with the O.M.H.A. for the upcoming season.

As a result of this defeated motion all players registered in Markdale in the 2006-2007 and the 2007-2008 seasons will need to register in their next nearest center to tryout for "rep" hockey for the coming season. Any player wishing to play local league or house league hockey is eligible to register in the center of their choice. All players will require written permission letters signed by myself.

Flesherton is the next nearest center for the greater majority of Markdale players. Flesherton will be holding registration Mon. May 26th and Tues. May 27th at the Flesherton Arena Pavillion from 6:00pm to 8:00pm both nights. They intend to register teams in all age groups from mite all the way up to juvenile. Anyone registering in Flesherton will not require an individual permission letter as I will be filing a master letter listing all Markdale players eligible to play there. Anyone wishing to play in any center other than Flesherton will require an individual letter signed by myself.

This situation is for the 2008/2009 hockey season only. It will be re-addressed at the next annual general meeting of the Markdale Minor Hockey Association to be held in May 2009.
